Minä Perhonen

Some patterns I like from Japanese brand Minä Perhonen.
Until recently, I have always thought it was a Finnish Brand !
As Finland & Japan have creative relationship for a long time, I was not surprised to read Japanese names under original patterns (Marimekko has often collaborâtes with Japanese designers).
But now, I know everything about designer and founder, Akira Minagawa who started the brand in 1995 !
The brand name “minä” means “I,” and “perhonen” means “butterfly.”

While traveling through Nordic countries repeatedly, founder, Akira Minagawa adopted Finnish words for his sympathy for the Finnish lifestyle and culture.

By wearing our designs, we hope everyone becomes “her or himself” and truly feel like the person she or he is.

Love the idea ! And love those lovely patterns.

LAETITIA LOVICONI

Creative direction for places, arts and design
